Growing up in the kitchen with her grandmothers, Dorothy and Claire, Alexis earned her baking pedigree making “Nanny’s” pound cake and “Mummy’s” divinity. The smells, tastes, and experiences showed her how baking can both delight and connect people.
Her first official cake was for her nephew’s fourth birthday, and since then she’s created dozens upon dozens of creative, custom cakes for both loved ones and customers. She’s also perfected her recipes for the most delicious cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies and more.
Alexis, her husband, and three children are Mooresville residents, and in April 2021 they saw a longtime dream come to life with the opening of Dogwood & Magnolia Bakery in the heart of their beloved historic town. Pieces of Alexis’ story and family history are found throughout the bakery from her grandmother’s handwritten recipes, the first dollar her grandfather earned at his general store, and the old candy jar Alexis remembers from childhood. Just as these stories, tastes, and legacies have helped build the story of Dogwood & Magnolia, Alexis hopes to play a part in adding to your story too.
